Stanley: Personal Protection

Safety Solutions

According to the Home Safety Council™, unintentional injuries account for nearly 21 million medical visits on average each year. In fact, unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death for individuals between the ages of 1 and 44, and the fifth leading cause of death among all age groups. Protect yourself from potential injuries by using personal protective equipment from one of America’s greatest brands. The Stanley® Personal Protection line offers a variety of safety products for both Do-It-Yourselfers and Professionals, including eye and face protection, head protection, hearing protection, respiratory protection, as well as first aid kits and safety vests.

Eye & Face Protection

From woodworking to weed trimming, flying debris could cause an eye injury or lead to loss of sight. The Stanley® Personal Protection line offers a wide variety of products for eye and face protection, including safety eyewear, goggles and a faceshield. Each piece is designed with protection, comfort, durability and style in mind. All of Stanley’s eye and face protection products meet or exceed American National Safety Institute (ANSI) safety standards and provide 99.9% protection from harmful UV rays. Many of the eyewear products meet Canadian Standards Association (CSA) safety standards and the military V0 ballistic standard for impact (seven times ANSI requirements!).

Stanley’s safety eyewear is available in a variety of different lens tints. Selecting the perfect lens tint depends on the environment in which it will be used. The clear lens is designed for most indoor applications. For outdoor applications where sunlight and glare could cause eye strain and fatigue, an espresso, TSR gray or mirrored lens would work best. The amber lens is for use in low-light applications in which contrast may be enhanced.

Head Protection

Falling or flying objects can cause serious head injury. Hard hats are designed to protect the head and skull from impact. When you least expect it, overhead hazards may occur. Stanley® hard hats are engineered to offer solid protection against falling or flying objects. Available in two suspension styles, adjustable PresLock suspension and ratchet suspension, each Stanley® hard hat is constructed of high density polyethylene shell with hangers designed to absorb shock evenly.

Hearing Protection

High noise levels from table saws, lawn mowers and other machinery can damage your hearing. If you are not able to hear someone talking from three feet away, the noise level is potentially dangerous. Stanley’s line of hearing safety products includes a selection of single-use and multiple-use earplugs along with earmuff-style hearing protection that feature the latest innovations in comfort, performance and protection. In addition, Stanley offers an AM/FM radio earmuff which provides protection from noise while allowing you to listen to music from a built-in radio.

Respiratory Protection

Paints, pesticides and even common household cleaners can be the source of harmful or even deadly airborne contaminants. In addition, breathing harmful dusts and mists can cause respiratory problems. Stanley’s line of respiratory protection is designed to maximize wearer comfort, fit and protection. Each disposable respirator is lightweight, humidity-resistant and includes a latex-free filter media for lower breathing resistance. Each reusable respirator meets NIOSH safety standards.

There are three separate filter classes (N, R, P) and three separate filter efficiencies (95%, 99%, 99.97%). N-class particulate respirators are approved for solid and liquid particulates, excluding oils. The R-class is for both oil and non-oil solid and liquid particulates, with a maximum 8-hour or one-shift use-restriction when used for oil mists. A P-class respirator is approved for both oil and non-oil particulates and has no time use-restrictions.

First Aid Kits

You should always have a well-stocked first aid kit on hand. In addition, it is important that everyone is trained to use it. Stanley® first aid kits contain a select assortment of quality first aid products for many common injuries. The kits are easy to carry and mount for access in emergency situations. Places to keep a first aid kit include your home, workshop, automobile and recreational areas.

Safety Vests

The Stanley® safety vests are featured in fluorescent orange and fluorescent green. The safety vests’ highly visible colors make the wearer more noticeable. Potential hazard areas include airports, construction sites and hunting grounds. In addition, a safety vest should be worn when working, running, walking or biking on or near roadways.
